Digital Print Design Fundamentals
Description
This course is designed to familiarize the student with the necessary
tools for producing well designed print materials. The student should
come out of the class with a thorough understanding of the tools available
to the contemporary print designer. They will also have a portfolio of
materials to present to prospective employers showcasing their talents.
The course is about both software and design. We will use Illustrator,
Photoshop and Quark XPress to learn the concepts of desktop publishing
and design. We will have regualr critiques of the students projects in
class and I expect class participation.
Evaluation criteria.
You are responsible for all material presented in class, including announcements
about course procedures ie; attendance is required.
-- 50% of your grade will be based on the final portfolio produced. Start
early! The final portfolio will be graded on both creativity and craftsmanship.
Presentation is important. Your final portfolio must include all exercises
listed on the syllabus.
-- 25% will be based on the portfolio produced for the midterm including
all homework assignments.
-- 25% is class participation and attendance. This class will rely heavily
on critique sessions, it is imperative that you participate.

Illustrator Exercise: create an advertisement
Session 8 Midterm Critique.

Designing for the third dimension.
